MAAC air rifle section already agreed and launched the activity schedule for 2011 so as to inform you of what to expect in the coming season. MAAC Airrifle section have prepared an interesting format for 2011 with some radical changes which will be explained below.

Field Target
In 2010/2011 Season MAAC will organize 6 X FT OPENS and a 2 DAY FT Nationals.
As you all know MAAC is committed to carry on participating in the WFTF World Championships hence we need to select the best shooters to send abroad also in 2011.

The selection for 2011 WFTF WC will be based as follows.
The best 4 performances out of the 6 FT opens will be considered as part of the final score for the selections. The 2 Day FT Nationals will be compulsory for the shooters who want to attempt qualification for the WFTF 2011 WC. The ranking will be based upon the scores of 4 FT Open and 2 FT Nationals. This means that each shooter will be judged on a total of 300 shots spread out during the season. (50 shots will be each match in 2010/2011 season.)

Still there will be categories and prizes for local championships but still there will be MQS for WFTF Qualification for the 12ftlbs PCP and Spring Categories but this will be explained later.

Procedure applied for ranking and prize winning in MAAC FT Nationals.

We would like to explain to all the competitors the process of how we will deal with the ranking and eventually the prize claims so that there will be total transparency of this process.

MSPS and MSPS Alterations.

  • Each and every competitor will shoot 60 targets on Saturday and 60 targets on Sunday.
  • After Saturday's shot, MAAC will issue the 1st ranking list.
  • After Sunday's shot, MAAC will issue the 2nd ranking list.
  • The shooters will be ranked by category PCP and Spring independent.
  • The MSPS for PCP is 90/120 and for Spring is 70/120.
  • If even one shooter exceeds the MSPS in his category the MSPS will remain as set for that category.
  • If no shooters exceed the MSPS in his category the MSPS will be altered
Altering of MSPS
If the MSPS for PCP is 90 and the top score is that of Mr. X with 85 points then the MSPS will be set as follows:

120 = 90
85 = ?

the MSPS will be set at 77 / 120

All shooters exceeding the new ALTERED MSPS will qualify.

Ranking - Qualified

All shooters that exceed MSPS original or Altered will be qualified.
  • This means that they will all get MAAC FT Malta Nationals Qualification Polo Shirt.

Ranking for Prizes.

  • Shooters 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Category get the Trophy Without any calculations.
  • The shooters will be ranked in a list separate for PCP and Spring.
The first* in each category will get the first prize i.e. ticket to Hungary for WFTF Worlds and Expenses up to Euro 690. **
* The category must of course have more then 1 shooter to be eligible.
**Expenses will be only issued to MAAC members who had paid up membership b4 1st May 2010. The ticket will be issued to any shooter irrespective of club.

The second* price free ticket to Hungary WFTF Worlds will be given to the second in the category.
* the category must have more then two shooters

Exceptions.

  • If the category has only one or two shooters then the 1st and 2nd price is not automatic going to the competitors. This will not be fair play.

To resolve this case the following procedure is applied.

Example 1.

PCP Class.
Mr. A scores 95/120
Mr. B scores 89/120
Mr. C scores 80/120

and in Spring Class there is 2 Competitors.
Mr. E scores 82/120
Mr. F scores 75/120

PCP Class Mr.A exceeds MSPS 90 only Mr.B not Qualified and Mr.C not qualified.

In Spring Class Both Mr. E and Mr. F exceeds MSPS 70

In this case Mr. A and Mr. B from PCP class get 1st and 2nd respectively and Mr.E and Mr.F get 1st and 2nd place for the Spring Class respectively.

Example 2.

PCP Class.
Mr. A scores 95/120
Mr. B scores 93/120
Mr. C scores 92/120

and in Spring Class there is 2 Competitors.
Mr. E scores 82/120
Mr. F scores 75/120

PCP Class Mr.A Mr.B and Mr.C exceeds MSPS 90 so all qualified.
In Spring Class Both Mr. E and Mr. F exceeds MSPS 70 so all qualified.

Since all qualified Mr A and Mr E get first of their class but the second place is undecided.
To establish the 2nd winners the percentage to the nearest 1 exceeding the MSPS must be calculated.

Mr . B
90 = 100
93 = ?

103.33 % = 103%

Mr. C
90 = 100
92 = ?

102.2% = 102%

Mr. F
70 = 100
75 = ?

107.14% = 107%

So in this case Mr. B PCP wins 2nd and Mr.F wins 2nd for Spring in terms of price.

Note it can be the case were Mr.C could have had higher % hence in such case the 2nd prices will go both for PCP. See the following example.

Example 3.
PCP Class.
Mr. A scores 96/120
Mr. B scores 95/120
Mr. C scores 94/120

and in Spring Class there is 2 Competitors.
Mr. E scores 82/120
Mr. F scores 72/120

To establish the 2nd winners the percentage exceeding the MSPS must be calculated.

Mr . B
90 = 100
95 = ?

105.55 % = 106%

Mr. C
90 = 100
94 = ?

104.44% = 104%

Mr. F
70 = 100
72= ?

102.85% = 103%

In this case Mr. B and Mr. C take 2nd Price .

EXCEPTION - Percentages becomes equal.
If percentage becomes equal between PCP and SPRING then the resolution will be settled by the Highest score for the two rounds.

Example
Mr. A PCP scores 50/60 in first round and 45/60 in second round total 95/120.

90=100
95=?
105.55% = 106%

Mr B Spring scores 40/60 in first round and 34/60 in second round total 74/120

70=100
74= ?
105.71% = 106%

In such case we have a tie.
There is an option given to the competitors to decide first.
A. Shoot of Sudden Death

If they not agree

Mr. A first round 50/60
Mr. A second round 45/60

Mr. B first round 40/60
Mr. B second round 34/60

Mr A MSPS 90
Mr B MSPS 70

Mr A Round 1
90 = 100
50 = ?
55.55% = 56%

Mr A Round 2
90=100
45=?
50% = 50%

Mr B Round 1
70=100
40=?
57.14% = 57%

Mr.B Round 2
70=100
34=?
48.57% = 49%

The Highest percentage obtained in individual rounds was that of Mr. B in the 1st round of 57% hence he claims the price.
